Something in Fathom never quite reaches the surface. She isn't born so much as settled, the way silt settles, the way a thought does when it's finally too heavy to keep turning over.
Fathom is a three inch spider kit, built around a hand-selected focal bead: dark cyan glass runs and swirls the length of her, deep as water where the light gives out. She has no interest in flies because what she gathers are the thoughts that sink, the ones you can't quite finish, until eventually they come to rest.
She won't take shape on her own, though. Someone has to carry her the rest of the way.
